Rachmaninoff’s high Culture of ‘conservatism’

Abstract: The article discusses a number of issues that are relevant today. Perception of S. V. Rachmaninoff’s personality and work in the aspect of chronotypological stages of art transformation are central among them. The author of the article, thinking about Rachmaninoff’s location in this classification, expresses her thoughts about the possibility of analyzing the composer’s work in the established artistic and aesthetic framework. In this regard, the issues of modern thematic orientation of harmony courses and methods of music science are also touched upon.
