Abstract:Modern opera production is in the process of constant search and transformation — traditional forms of stage art are rethought through the prism of new directorial strategies. The article, based on premiere performances on the stage of Moscow opera houses, examines current approaches to opera production, analyzes their artistic and conceptual features, as well as their influence on the perception of opera by modern audiences. The author’s field of attention is the following performances of the 2024/2025 season: Andrea Chenier and Anna Bolena at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater, The Key on the Pavement, or the Husband at the Door and The Rake’s Progress at the Helikon Opera Theater, Vanessa and The Magic Flute at the Novaya Opera.

In the process of analysis, special attention is paid to the interaction of directing music, visual art and dramaturgy. In conclusion, the diversity of directorial approaches applied in staging opera works on the contemporary stage testifies to the independence of the genre and its ability to adapt to my cultural needs.

Keywords: opera, directing, contemporary staging, interpretation, musical, visual dramaturgy
