Abstract: The article deals with the phenomenon of Russian cosmism in the Russian music culture, outlines the various lines of its manifestation. A large historical period is presented: from the origin of the first cosmic concepts of Russian philosophers and scientists in the last third of the XIX century up to the second half of the XX century. The historical and cultural origins of cosmism remain beyond the boundaries of the research narrative. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the approach to the study of the role and significance of cosmism in musical culture. Based on Yu. N. Kholopov’s thoughts on the new tonality and its functioning in the 20th century, the author of the article emphasizes the extraordinary resourcefulness of Scriabin’s compositional technique. The evolution of A. N. Scriabin’s harmonic thinking leads to the Ninth Sonata as a landmark work that marked a fundamentally new stage in the history of harmonic styles of the 20th century. In addition to harmony, the study also covers other parameters of Scriabin’s musical language, understood in the light of the ideas of Russian cosmism.
