Abstract: The article examines the current state of Kievan chant from the point of view of repertoire and melody, which is designated as Kievan. The material for the study was samples that are publicly available on various Internet resources. In most cases, these are multi-voice treatments.
The main method of work was comparative analysis, which was applied at several levels. The chants from the Internet were compared within the same genre, in addition, the presented repertoire («The Light is quiet», «Now let go», «Mercy of the World» of the XIX–XX centuries) and the type of tunes were compared with handwritten sources of the second half of the XVII–XVIII centuries, as well as printed books of the beginning of the XX century: “The use of musical notation of common church chants” and “The Companion of the psalmist”.
As a result, it turned out that over the centuries, Kievan chant has retained the main repertoire and features of its existence: for example, chants with a similar attribution exist within the framework of multi-chant and usually have one leading tune, presented variously, and several tunes that are not similar to the rest of the samples
