Abstract: In the presented material, the author, relying on Frank Ankersmit’s theory of narrative logic, draws attention to the «ideal narrative» as an important principle for revealing the deeply hidden artistic intent of a musical work. It is precisely the «ideal narrative» that allows for penetrating all layers of the text (real and implied) and forming a holistic understanding of the conceptual plan. This is shown using the example of the last — Sixth — Symphony of Gavriil Nikolayevich Popov (1904–1972), in which a world of grotesque-tragic images is revealed, hidden under the title «Festive». Keywords: «ideal narrative», Gavriil Popov, Sixth Symphony op. 99 For citation: Romashchuk I. M. On the logic of the «ideal narrative».
