Abstract: The article is devoted to the history of F. E. Vitachek’s most ambitious work, the unfinished ballet «Pushkin’s Fairy Tales. Will the Devil Make Good with the Angry Woman». The work has not previously been the subject of study. The experience of the composer’s contact with the world of choreography is revealed; an attempt is made to find out the circumstances that contributed to the composer’s turning to the genre of ballet, as well as the reasons for such a long, almost nine-year work on the work. On the basis of archive materials, which are being introduced into the scientific circulation for the first time, the main milestones of the ballet’s creation are outlined, and details of the interaction between the composer and the librettist, who influenced the creative process, are revealed..
